Virginia Community Solar
Turn your Virginia land into long-term income.
If you own acreage in Dominion Energy territory, ECA Power will lease or buy your land for community solar — and pay you steady income for decades, with no upfront cost to you.

What does it mean to lease land for community solar in Virginia?

Community solar lets Virginia residents and businesses subscribe to a local solar farm and receive credits on their Dominion Energy bills, without putting panels on their own roofs. Those farms have to be built somewhere, and that's where landowners come in.

How Leasing Your Land Works.
Partnering with a solar developer is simpler than most landowners expect. You provide the land; ECA Power handles the financing, permitting, construction, and decades of upkeep. The process is built to be transparent at every stage, so you always know what's happening with your property. Here's how it works, step by step.
Submit Your Land
You submit your parcel details (county, acreage, location). The developer screens it against grid access, topography, zoning, and proximity to power infrastructure to confirm it's a viable site — at no cost or obligation to you
Lease Offer & Negotiation
f your parcel clears the initial screening, ECA Power will reach out to present a formal lease offer. This includes the proposed lease rate, payment structure, and term length — typically 25 to 30 years. You're never pressured to accept the first offer. We walk you through every term, answer your questions, and encourage you to have an attorney review the agreement before signing. Once both parties agree, the lease is executed and your income timeline begins.
Development & Permitting
After the lease is signed, ECA Power takes over completely. Our team handles all environmental studies, zoning applications, utility interconnection agreements, and local permitting. This phase typically runs one to three years depending on the county and grid complexity. You don't need to attend meetings, manage contractors, or navigate agencies — that's entirely on us. We keep you informed at key milestones so you always know where your project stands.
Operation & Ongoing Payments
Once the solar array is built and energized, your lease payments begin and continue for the life of the project — typically 20 to 30 years. Payments are made on a regular schedule with automatic annual escalators built into most agreements, so your income grows over time. ECA Power manages all maintenance, repairs, and operations. Your land is working, and your only job is cashing the check.
